Trackdale secures £200K Smart award from the DTI
Trackdale Ltd, a small nanotechnology materials company based in Framlingham Suffolk, announced it has received a £200K Smart award from the DTI to develop its range of Quantum Dot fibre optic amplifiers. This award follows on from the previous award of £45k in 2003, which funded the successful trial of the material. It also takes place against a backdrop of increasing competition for DTI funds and the successful matching of these funds from private investor sources.
Commenting on the award Steve Kershaw, MD of Trackdale said “ This award and the associated Angel funding gives us a unique opportunity to push forward with this exciting new development. The application will bring significant benefits to the telecommunications industry in terms of cost and performance of their investment in fibre-optic systems”.
